Connecting the Pneumatic Pump K–1900
8
Pump Heads and Hydraulic Connections
All operating elements and hydraulic connections are located on the front of the
pump, see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2.
Make sure that all hydraulic connections are suited for the system
pressure and flow rate of your HPLC System.
During initial set-up
procedures, and also later when changing solvent, pay strict attention to
the miscibility of solvents to be used one after another, otherwise the
function of the check valves may be adversely affected (see
Fig. 14
on page
16). By substitutions non-mis-cible solvents such as methanol and hexane,
rinse after using methanol with an intermediate solvent that is miscible
with both solvents in all proportion, e.g. isopropanol.
100, 250 and 500 ml Head
Solvent tubings are connected to the pump head according to Fig. 5. Make sure
that the flat side of the ferrule is directed to the pump head and that the fitting
screw is fastened hand tight. According to the local conditions the tubings can
be connected either to the inlets valve housing (
A
) or to the eluent inlet (
B
).
