4. Remarks with respect to the determined use
In combination with a 2 m high-pressure hose it is not possible to work in a cable trench.
For this application at least a 3m high-pressure hose is needed.
4.1. Operation of the unit
The crimping head (Pos.-No. 2) is connected with the hydraulic pump via a coupling
sleeve (Pos.-No. 3). After releasing, respectively screwing off, the lock (Pos.-No. 6) the
ring (Pos.-No. 7) can be pulled back in order to insert the couplings plug of the pump.
Before starting any work on electrical appliances it must be safeguarded that there are no
live parts in the immediate assembly area of the user. Is this not possible special
precaution measures
1
for working near live parts must be provided.
Afterwards the crimping head must be opened by pulling out the locking pin (Pos.-No. 5)
and removing the latch (Pos.-No. 4). The connecting material must be positioned right in
the center of the four indenters.
During the crimping cycle the connector will be indented by four indentors. Three of
them are approaching the connector. The fourth indentor is stationary. The connecting
material must be positioned right in the center of the four indentors (Pos.-No. 1).
Attention
If the connector is crimped in an out-of-center position the crimping head
can damaged.
The crimping cycle is terminated when the pump reaches its maximum operating
pressure.
After the crimping process has been completed and the piston must be retracted to
remove the connecting material from the crimping head. The max. operating pressure is
indicated on a decal positioned on the body of the crimping head (Pos.-No. 2).
4.2. Explanation of the application range
Our electric hydraulic crimping unit is a dieless crimper supplied with four indentors
(Pos.-No. 4) to crimp primarily copper and aluminium cables and conductors.
