Figure.3 Immersion wiring, a) layout of immersion wiring terminals, b) wiring diagram.

Only immersion heaters with a thermal over temperature saefty cut out  may be used. The immersion heaters have a 1-1/4”

NPT thread. Thread will have to be sealed with appropriate compound/tape. They are rated at 4.5 kW at 240 V and are of

a low noise Incoloy construction. The thermostat should be set to limit the temperature to a maximum of 185˚F (85˚C). It is

recommended that that the water temperature is set for the lowest temperature that satisfies your hot water needs. Setting

the temperature to 120˚F will reduce the risk of scalds. Please order the correct replacement via Kingspan Solar; fitting non-

approved heating elements may affect your warranty.

If no immersion heater is to be installed, it is recommended that a brass 1-1/4” plug be used.

The cable must be copper 10AWG heat resistant compliant with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. The heaters

must be connected to a dedicated branch circuit with the relevant protection devices. The cable must be connected to a field

wiring terminal that is rated for the immersion heater current load. The unit must be grounded to a properly installed ground

circuit using an appropriate field terminal.

Check the immersion heaters are 240V and rated at 4500W this should be stated on the case.

Figure 3 shows the layout and wiring schematic of the heating element. To access the wiring terminals, firstly, remove the

temperature dial by gently pulling of the dial completely off, then loosen the three retaining screws on the edge of the cover

and slide the red cover off the unit.

The terminals are set up for single phase 240V series operation.

The 1L1 wire is white and the 1L2 wire is black. The green stud, refer to Figure 3 a) shows the grounding connections. Use

correct wire connections and ensure a proper gland/grommet is used to exit the immersion heater casing

WARNING

The tank must be full of water before any power is switched on. Heating elements will be damaged if powered in air.

2.3 IMMERSION HEATERS

WARNING: Use a qualified electrician to install the KINGSPAN TRIBUNE hot water tank. The tank must be electrically

wired in accordance with these instructions and the relevant local codes. If local codes do not apply consult the National

Electrical Code.

HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Any installation involving electric heaters must be grounded to earth to eliminate shock

hazard.
