Do not try to repair the smoke alarm yourself. Refer to the
instructions in Warranty section for service.
Thisalarmdetectsproductsofcombustionusingphotoelectric
technologyandcarbonmonoxideusinganelectrochemicalcell.Many
timesthroughoutthisUser’sGuide,wewillrefertoCarbonMonoxide
as“CO.”
Thisalarmisacceptableforusenearkitchensorcookingareasbutcan
beusedinallotherresidentialapplicationswhereasmokeorCOalarm
isrequired.
Afterten(10)yearsofcumulativepowerup,thisunitwill“chirp”two
timesevery30seconds.Thisisan“operationalendoflife”feature
whichwillindicatethatitistimetoreplacethealarm.
Tohelpidentifythedatetoreplacetheunit,alabelhasbeenaffixedto
thesideofthealarm.Writethe“Replaceby”date(10yearsfrominitial
powerup)inpermanentmarkeronthelabelpriortoinstallingtheunit.
