2. INTRODUCTION
2.1 GENERAL FEATURES OF LEGEND EXP
Legend
Exp
is a sound generation module that simulates all the features of the electromechanical organ
widely known as the
Hammond
organ. The core of the instrument is the new sound generation technology TMT
(Tonewheel Modeling Technology), an innovative synthesis technology with physical models that take into
account all the factors that affect the sound of the original organs, such as the perfect synchronization of the
sound wheels, imperfect electrical circuits, engine noises, etc ...
The instrument has nine drawbars to adjust the sound of the Upper, Lower and Pedals sections, which
simulate the upper manual, lower manual and pedalboard of the electromechanical organ.

can receive MIDI data from one, two or three MIDI channels simultaneously. Different functioning
modes can be activated, in order to play:

the Upper, Lower and Pedals sections on a single MIDI keyboard;

the Upper and Lower sections on a single MIDI keyboard and the Pedals section on a MIDI pedalboard;

the Upper and Lower sections on two different MIDI keyboards and the Pedals section on the same
keyboard assigned to the Lower section;

the Upper and Lower sections on two different MIDI keyboards the Pedals section on a MIDI pedalboard;
The
Legend Exp
also features the classic Vibrato, Chorus and Percussion controls,
together with a Rotary
speed switch, simulating the classic rotary speaker used with electromechanical organs. The rear connection
panel allows to use either a Half Moon switch or a pedal switch to set the rotation speed.
All the effects, the sound and the noises of the organ, such as the type and level of reverb and distortion, the
type of rotating speaker, the percussion level, the three-band equalizer, the Keyclick and Crosstalk noises can
be adjusted. A 3x8 segments LCD display allows for an easy and intuitive adjustment of all parameters and
settings.
The user can select six different types of electromechanical organ from different periods, each with its own
sound features.
There are 25 Memory slots to store the sound generation parameters and the general settings of the
instrument, and 4 Presets for each section to store the drawbars status.
Furthermore, Legend instruments have a
dedicated application, called
Legend Editor
.
This software is compatible with Windows and
Mac OS and is available for download at
www.viscountinstruments.com.
Install it on your computer to fine tune all the
sound generation parameters, such as the
signal level of each single drawbar, the click
level, the Modulation parameters of the Vibrato
and Chorus effects, the overdrive effect (choose
between different styles), the speed and
acceleration of the rotary speaker and many
other settings.
The application also allows you to save and load
these parameters on your computer and to
upload new organ models to the instruments.
These new models will be made available on the
official website.
