PRIOR TO MEASUREMENT

f o l l o w i n g c h e c k s and a d j u s t m e n t s b e f o r e making any measurements. The i n s t r u c t i o n s which
f o l l o w c o n c e r n i n g b a s i c o p e r a t i o n t e c h n i q u e s and a p p l i c a t i o n s assume t h a t t h e c h e c k s and
adjustments d e s c r i b e d here have been completed.

pi l o t lamp 1 i g h t s up, and a t r a c e l i n e appears i n 10 t o 15 seconds. Check t o see that
r o t a t i n g t h e INTENSITY c o n t r o l c l o c k w i s e i n c r e a s e s t h e b r i g h t n e s s , and r o t a t i n g i t
c o u n t e r c l o c k w i s e d e c r e a s e s the b r i g h t n e s s . Then, r o t a t e t h e INTENSITY c o n t r o l f u l l y
c o u n t e r c l o c k w i s e and e x t i n g u i s h t h e t r a c e l i n e t o b e g i n p r e h e a t i n g . F o r t h e most
a c c u r a t e measurement r e s u l t s , i t i s n e c e s s a r y to warm-up the o s c i 1 l o s c o p e f o r about 30
minutes. However, i f you intend only to d i s p l a y waveforms, warm-up i s not n e c e s s a r y .
