1) Switching v e r t i c a l operation modes
When two o r more s w i t c h e s . o t h e r t h a i t h e ALT/CHOP a r e a c t i v a t e d w i t h t h e V. MODE,
the CRT s c r e e n d i s p l a y s t h e s i g n a l s a p p l i e d t o the INPUT t e r m i n a l s o f t h e a c t i v a t e d
c h a n n e l s . Changing the sweep time.and s e t t i n g the t r i g g e r p o i n t may be completed I n
the same way a s C l l s i n g l e t r a c e o p e r a t i o n . When the V. MODE c o n t r o l i s s e t t o ALT,
s i g n a l s of t h e s e l e c t e d channels a r e d i s p l a y e d one a f t e r another f o r each sweep. When
i t i s s e t t o CHOP, t h e s i g n a l s a r e s u b - d i v i d e d a c c o r d i n g t o time and d i s p l a y e d on
the CRT. When t h e V. MODE c o n t r o l i s s e t t o ADD, t h e s i g n a l s ( C H I and CH2) a r e
d i s p l a y e d i n the same manner a s i n a s i n g l e channel o p e r a t i o n . I f t h e INV c o n t r o l i s
s e l e c t e d i n t h e ADD mode, t h e d i f f e r e n t i a l ( C H I -CH2) i s d i s p l a y e d . I n o r d e r t o
m e a s u r e d i s p l a y e d w a v e f o r m s i n t h e ADD mode, i t i s n e c e s s a r y t h a t t h e VOLTS/DIV
c o n t r o l s e t t i n g s - b e . t h e same f o r both c h a n n e l s .
2) Switching t r i g g e r sources
S e l e c t a t r i g g e r s i g n a l channel w i t h t h e SOURCE s w i t c h . I f VERT i s s e l e c t e d w i t h the
SOURCE s w i t c h and t h e ALT/CHOP s w i t c h i s s e t t o ALT, t h e s i g n a l o f each c h a n n e l i s
used a s t h e t r i g g e r s i g n a l s o u r c e i n each sweep. I f t h e ALT/CHOP s w i t c h i s s e t to
CHOP, only CHI input s i g n a l i s used a s the t r i g g e r s i g n a l source.

I f the SOURCE s w i t c h i s s e t to VERT, input s i g n a l s to a l l c h a n n e l s . Sweep may be
u n s t a b l e i f a c h a n n e l c a r r i e s no s i g n a l o r a s i g n a l o f an a m p l i t u d e below t h e
t r i g g e r s e n s i t i v i t y of the o s c i l l o s c o p e .
I f the t r i g g e r c o u p l i n g i s used to s e t TV FRAME or TV LINE, t r i g g e r i n g w i t h p l u r a l
: c h a n n e l s i s d i s a b l e d . S e t SOURCE t o an intended t r i g g e r i n g c h a n n e l , i n s t e a d of
VERT.
3) Line t r i g g e r
I f t h e s i g n a l o f t h e d i s p l a y e d c h a n n e l i s s y n c h r o n o u s w i t h t h e l i n e f r e q u e n c y , t h e
t r i g g e r p o i n t becomes s t a b l e by s e t t i n g the SOURCE s w i t c h to LINE.
