SCPI programming commands (digits)
For remote programming, each valid function can have it’s own unique setting:
SENS:VOLT:DC:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for DC Volts.
SENS:VOLT:AC:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for AC Volts.
SENS:CURR:DC:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for DC Amps.
SENS:CURR:AC:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for AC Amps.
SENS:RES:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for 2-Wire Ohms.
SENS:FRES:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for 4-Wire Ohms.
SENS:TEMP:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for Temperature.
SENS:FREQ:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for Frequency.
SENS:PER:DIG <n>
‘ Set display resolution for Period.
<n> = 4 to 7

When finished with remote programming, press the LOCAL key to
restore front panel control.
Measurement speed (rate)
For the volts, amps, ohms, and temperature measurements, the RATE key sets
the integration time (measurement speed) of the A/D converter. The integration
time is the period of time the input signal is measured.
Integration time is specified in parameters based on a number of power line cycles
(NPLC), where 1 PLC for 60Hz is 16.67ms (1/60). For 50Hz (and 400Hz),1 PLC is
20ms (1/50).
As speed (rate) increases, reading noise also increases. Typically, the desired rate
setting is a compromise between speed and noise. From the front panel, setting
the rate affects all other valid measurement functions.
Front panel rate settings:
•
FAST sets integration time to 0.1PLC. Use this setting when speed is of pri-
mary importance (at the expense of noise).
•
MEDium sets integration time to 1 PLC. This setting is a compromise
between noise and speed.
•
SLOW sets integration time to 5 PLC. Use this setting for better noise per-
formance at the expense of speed.
Setting measurement speed
Referring to
, press RATE until the desired speed annunciator (FAST,
MED, or SLOW) turns on.
