Typical applications
Resistor testing
The Model 2000-SCAN can be used to test up to 10 resistors using 2-wire measurements, or
up to five resistors using 4-wire measurements. Such tests use the Model 2000

resistance functions.
2-wire resistance tests
Figure 3-1
shows a typical test setup for making 2-wire resistance measurements. The
Model 2000-SCAN card provides the switching function, while the resistance measurements are
made by a Model 2000 Multimeter. Since only 2-pole switching is required for this application,
one Model 2000-SCAN card can be used to switch up to 10 resistors.
Measurement accuracy can be optimized by minimizing residual resistance: make connecting
wires as short as possible and limit the number of connectors to minimize path resistance.
Another technique is to short one of the scanner channel inputs, close the shorted channel, and
then enable the multimeter REL feature to null out path resistance. Leave REL enabled for the
entire test.
