3.3.6 Setup of the drive
Connect the motor and start up the drive as specified in the section “Initial Start Up”.
Once operation is verified, turn the power off and wire control connections according to
the diagram shown in section 3.3.5. Then place the drive in standby mode (signal at
terminal 1 off) and turn the power back on.
3.3.7 Loading the program into the drive (if sent from KEBCO, INC.)
1. Connect a PC computer to the drive using the serial operator and a standard KEBCO
serial cable. Start the program COMBIVIS and load the parameter window with the
download file S4POSI2.DW5. Please refer to the COMBIVIS instruction manual.
2. The file can immediately be downloaded to the drive without changes. However it is
suggested to first adjust the velocity and position data for the application before the
first run.
3. Adjust the positions according to the following example. Refer to the parameter list
S4
POSI2
in section 3.3.8. Through the COMBIVIS program the index length and the
velocity profile can be adjusted.
Example Index Adjustment
•
Index length = 10 inches
•
Index speed = 20 inches/sec
•
Linear distance to rotary displacement: 1 inch = 2.45 motor revolutions
•
Index Length = 10 inches x 2.45 revs/in = 24.5 revs of motor
•
Index Speed = 20 inches/sec x 2.45 rev/in = 49 revs/sec = 2940 rpm at motor
Parameter settings
Position high
(Pd.09 = 24)
Position low
(Pd.10 = (0.50 x 65,535) = 32,768)
Position speed (Pd.07 = 2940 rpm)
Accel/decel time (Pd.06 = 0.1 sec)
S-Curve time
(Pd.05 = 0.05 sec)
Total acceleration or deceleration time is equal to Pd.06 + Pd.05.
4.
Once the parameters have been adjusted in the parameter list, the list can be loaded
into the drive using the download function of the COMBIVIS program. Follow the
instructions provided with COMBIVIS to send the parameter data to the drive.
5.
The drive can now be enabled to perform a test run. Enable the drive by activating
terminal 1. Turn on automatic mode (terminal 3 on). Give a start signal at terminal 2
and the system should perform the index. The drive will confirm the position was
reached by turning on digital output 1 (terminal 8).
6.
Once the index is established, the velocity profile and the speed and position
regulators should be adjusted for optimum results. This process is best handled with
the COMBISCOPE program (it is a sub program of COMBIVIS). Refer to section 4 to
make these adjustments.
