4.3.10 Helpful hints adjusting the speed and position controllers
•
When adjusting the control gains remember that each move uses its own set of
parameters. When adjusting these on the fly, you must use parameter Fr.09 to select
which position (0…3) you want to adjust. In the COMBISCOPE program, when the
scope screen is displayed, simply move your cursor up to the menu bar, select
windows, then Project-explorer. The Project-explorer will now be displayed. Move the
cursor to the left of the Parameter box and select the box. You will now notice
under the
window on the right the
Fr
parameters will open. Scroll down to
Fr.09 and enter the desired position (0…3). You can also use the SET SELECT
hot key on the icon menu. The single axis index application uses only position 0
which is the default setting of Fr.09. Therefore, it is not necessary to adjust Fr.09.

To access the speed control gains CS.00 and CS.01, simply select the box on the
left side. The
window listing all of the
CS
parameters will appear on the
right allowing you to change the values at will.

To access the position control gain, (Pd.02) select the box. The
window
listing all of the
Pd
parameters will appear to the right allowing you to change the
values at will.

Changes in the control gains take effect as soon the new value is entered into the
amplifier.
•
The P - Speed should always be larger than I - Speed otherwise oscillation will result.
•
High inertia loads will require a high value for P - Speed, P - Position, and a low value
for I - Speed.
•
High friction loads will require a somewhat higher value for I - Speed.
•
If any of the values are set too high, oscillation will result. Decrease the value until
the oscillation stops and then lower it an additional 20%.
•
Remember, after adjusting the values in the amplifier it is necessary to change them
in the download list. This way you have an updated list of the parameter settings.
