Lock the wheelchair during transportation to prevent it from
moving by accident.
11.1.1 Four-point strap-type tiedown system
In all transportation situations, the wheelchair needs to be appropriately fixed
using a
four-point strap-type tiedown system to secure the wheelchair.
Please be aware of the following statements.
⚫
Check that the wheels are locked.
⚫
Secure the wheelchair according to the manufacturer of
the vehicle restraint systems instructions.
⚫
Use four strap assemblies to secure the wheelchair on
the vehicle, attaching to the wheelchair at four separate
securement points (each marked with an indication
sticker) and to the vehicle at four anchor points.
⚫
Make sure that the strap assemblies are well attached and anchored.
⚫
Tighten the fastening straps to keep optimal security.
⚫
The strap assemblies should create an angle of around 45° within the
side view zone to provide maximum effect in vertical and horizontal
directions.

⚫
Alterations or substitutions should not be made to the
wheelchair securement points or structural and frame parts
or components without consulting the wheelchair
manufacturer.
⚫
Poor fixations of the wheelchair in a vehicle might cause
damage to the vehicle, the wheelchair, or the passengers.
