10.8 Stability and balance when seated

eaning forwards, backwards, or sideways will affect the wheelchair’s stability.
The user may fall out when leaning too far in the chair or overreaching for
objects.
When leaning, use the pelvic belt and follow the instructions bellow to keep
the user stable and safe.
10.8.1 Leaning forward

Point the front casters forward by move the wheelchair backwards to
increase the wheelchair stability.
⚫
Lock the wheels.
Warning
⚫
Never shift and bend too far forwards in your seat.
⚫
Do not bend forwards between your knees to reach the
floor.
10.8.2 Leaning backward
⚫
Point the front casters forward by moving the wheelchair backwards to
increase the wheelchair stability.
⚫
Make sure the anti-tippers are in the active position.
⚫
Unlock the wheels.
Warning
⚫
Never reach too far backwards in your seat.
⚫
Do not lean out over the backrest.
