NOTE:
The procedures for integrating a T640 router, including replacing
standard CBs and SIBs with T-CBs and T640-SIBs, are different for offline
(not passing traffic) and operational (passing traffic) T640 routers. When
you integrate an operational T640 router with the TX Matrix router, the
T640 router continues to pass traffic until it is rebooted.
See either“Overview of Integrating an Operational T640 Router with the
TX Matrix Router” on page 169 or “Overview of Integrating an Offline T640
Router with the TX Matrix Router” on page 179.
Tools and Parts Required for Converting a T640 Routers
To convert a T640 router, you need the following tools:
•
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2
•
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding wrist strap
You can order a T640 router with the hardware and software components already
installed, or you can convert your existing T640 router by ordering and installing a kit that
contains these hardware components:
•
One rear fan tray with eight fans
The rear fan tray required for the converted T640 router contains eight fans (the fan
tray being replaced has five blowers).
•
One or two T-CBs
Figure 76 on page 162 and Figure 77 on page 163 illustrate the difference between a T-CB
and a standard CB.
