blocked. Spiders and insects can build
nests that clog openings, which can
cause a fire in the product.
Lighting with main burner
WARNING!
Open the lid when lighting – attempting
to light with a closed lid can result in fatal
injury.
1. Check that all the valves are closed (OFF
position).
2. Connect the gas cylinder to the regulator
inlet and open the cylinder valve.
3. Fully press in the burner knob and hold it
pressed for 3 to 4 seconds and then turn it
about a 1/4 turn until it clicks. The burner
should then light. Check that there are
flames in all the burner openings. The
flames should be blue with a yellow tip
and about 25 to 50 mm high.
FIG. 12
4. If the burner does not light, turn
the burner knob to closed position
immediately. Wait 5 minutes and then
repeat the lighting procedure.
5. Set the burner knob to the required
cooking temperature.
Lighting with matches
1. Put a match in the match holder and light
the match.
2. Put the lit match through the grill rack
and up to the burner openings.
FIG. 13
3. Press in the burner knob and turn it to
HIGH. Check that all the burner openings
light and that the flames are blue with
yellow tips and about 25 to 50 mm high.
4. If the burner does not light, turn
the burner knob to closed position
immediately.
5. Wait 5 minutes with the lid open so that
the gas is dissipated and then repeat the
lighting procedure.
6. Set the burner knob to the required
cooking temperature.
Check that the flames correspond to the
figure and description. If the flames do not
burn properly, follow the instructions in
TROUBLESHOOTING.
1. Normal: blue flames with yellow tips,
about 25 to 50 mm high.
2. Incorrectly adjusted: roaring, blue flames
– excess air.
3. Incomplete combustion: flickering, yellow
flames – shortage of air.
FIG. 14
Note the height of the flame when the burner
has lit. The flame should be yellow/blue and
25 to 50 cm high.
FIG. 15
Flaming
Flaming can occur when scraps of food or fat
drops down on the hotplate or the burner
and catch fire. Some flaming is normal and
preferable, because it contributes towards
the special taste of grilled food. Nevertheless,
flaming must be kept under control to avoid
burnt or unevenly cooked food, and to
minimise the risk of fire.
WARNING!
Keep a careful check on the cooking and turn
down the flame or put it out if the flaming
increases in intensity.
