SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the Operating Instructions carefully before use!
Keep the area around the bandsaw clean.
The machine must not be exposed to liquid. Make sure the work area is well lit. The machine must
not be used in areas where flammable liquids or gases are stored.
Electrical safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators,
cookers and refrigerators.
Keep unauthorised persons away from the workplace, particularly young children and animals.
When not in use, store the machine in a dry place out of the reach of children.
Never force the machine. It will operate more efficiently and last longer if the workpiece is not
pressed too hard on the saw blade.
Use a tool that is suitable for the work you are doing. Do not try to carry out heavy work using a tool
unsuitable for the job, or using a tool with insufficient capacity.
Do not wear loose-fitting clothing, jewellery, etc. as these can get caught in moving parts. Wear a
hair net if you have long hair. Wear non-slip shoes.
Wear protective equipment such as eye protection and a breathing mask.
If the machine has an outlet for a chip extractor, connect the chip extractor to the machine.
Never pull on the power cord to disconnect the plug from the socket. Always hold the plug to
remove it. The cord may become damaged if it is bent too often. Oil and sharp edges can damage
the cord.
Support the workpiece. Secure the workpiece with clamps, if necessary.
Do not stretch over the machine. Keep a firm footing and a proper balance at all times.
Keep accessories in good condition. Follow the instructions for maintenance and lubrication of the
machine.
Check the power cord for damage. Do not use the machine if the cord is damaged. A damaged
power cord must be replaced or repaired by an authorised service centre. Check any extension
bench regularly to ensure it is in good condition. Check that the machines guide devices and
control levers are in good condition, dry and free from oil and grease.
Always disconnect the power cord from the mains power when you have finished work and before
carrying out maintenance, cleaning and blade replacement or altering settings.
Always remove adjuster keys/spanners and other assembling tools from the machine before
switching on the power.
Avoid starting the machine accidentally. Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before
connecting the machine to the mains supply. If you are working outdoors with the machine, make
sure that all extension cables are approved for outdoor use.
Always be very careful when using the machine. Never use the machine if you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Do not expose yourself or anyone else to danger.
Check the condition of the machine. Do this every time before you start working with the machine.
Check moving parts, switches, devices, guards and other areas that affect the operation and safety
of the machine. If the machine is not in perfect condition, take it to an authorised service centre for
repair before using it again.
Warning: Install only original spare parts or accessories approved by the manufacturer. The
machine must be repaired at an authorised service centre. The machine must be plugged into an
earthed socket. Any extension cord must be correctly dimensioned and earthed.
Special safety instructions
Damaged or warped bandsaw blades must be replaced with new ones.
Replace any worn bench insert (fig. 2).
Use a suitable device to prevent the timber from rotating when cutting round mouldings.
Do not use the machine if the blade guard is not fitted and if the side hatch is not closed.
Set the blade guard as close as possible to the workpiece.
Choose the right bandsaw blade for cutting the material.
Only use saw blades designed for the machine. The use of saw blades not designed for this
bandsaw involves a risk of personal injury or damage to the machine.
