3.
Tighten the upper saw wheel by turning the blade tension adjustment knob clockwise. At the same
time, rotate the upper saw wheel manually until the saw blade turns correctly.
NOTE!
Check the saw blade tension by pressing on the saw blade between the wheels. There must be
approx. 5 mm of clearance.
If the saw blade is tensioned too tightly, this will impair performance. Blades tensioned too tightly
are the most common cause of broken saw blades.
Wide saw blades must be tensioned more tightly than narrow ones.
If the blade tension is correct but the saw blade slips off the upper saw wheel, it is possible that the
saw wheel is mounted obliquely. The saw wheel should not normally need adjusting. However, if it
does need to be adjusted, proceed as follows:
1.
Slightly undo the lock nut.
2.
Turn the setting knob for the upper saw wheel until the saw blade runs correctly over the upper saw
wheel. Rotate the upper saw wheel so that you can see how the saw blade runs. It is usually
enough to turn the setting knob just very slightly.
3.
Tighten the lock nut when the saw blade is running correctly.
4.
Fit the blade guard.
Blade guides and support rollers
NOTE!
Always check the blade guide and roller positions after replacing and setting saw blades.
1.
The distance between the support rollers for the upper and lower blade guides respectively and the
saw blade must be 0.4 mm. The distance between the graphite pins and the saw blade must be 0.2
mm on both sides. The support rollers prevent the saw blade from bending too far back and
damaging the teeth.
2.
The graphite pins must be adjusted in relation to the saw blade so that the edges of the pins are
close to the line along which the teeth of the saw blade run. These teeth must not come into
contact with the graphite pins. To make this setting, the blade guides can be moved forwards and
back using the adjustment screw (fig. 3). Tighten the screw when you have finished adjusting.
3.
First, set the pins and roller using the upper blade guide (fig. 6). Undo the locking screws slightly.
Set the distance between the saw blade and the pins and support roller respectively as described
above.
4.
Do the same with the lower blade guide (fig. 5).
When setting is complete, check that the blade guard is fitted and the side hatch closed.
Tighten the hatch nuts and screw the bolt back onto the end of the bench.
Sawing
Set the bench to the required angle. Then set the extension bench, the side fence and the mitre ruler.
1.
If you have a chip extractor, connect this to the extraction connection on the back of the bandsaw.
2.
Connect the plug to an earthed mains supply.
3.
Set the blade guard as close as possible to the top side of the workpiece using the setting knob
(fig. 3).
4.
Start the machine using the switch.
5.
Allow the motor to reach full speed before you start sawing.
6.
Keep your hands well away from the rotating saw blade. If necessary, use a pusher to feed in the
workpiece.
7.
Disconnect the saw from the mains when you have finished.
MAINTENANCE
NOTE!
Repairs must only be performed by an authorised service centre.
Make sure the machine is not connected to the mains when carrying out maintenance work on the
machine.
Adjust and replace the saw blade as stated in the Operating Instructions.
The saw bench can be waxed slightly to allow the workpiece to slide more easily.
Remove sawdust inside the bandsaw using a brush and vacuum cleaner. Do not use liquids,
solvents or sharp tools for cleaning.
The plastic bench insert (fig. 2) gradually wears, particularly if the saw blade is not adjusted
correctly.
Use only original parts and accessories.
