Channel Configuration Overview
The ACU-5000 supports four different channel types, plus a handset for local communications.
Click on the
Channels
tab to bring up the Channels Overview Screen that lists the current channel
type assignments. If names have been applied to any channels, they will show up on this page.
To configure an individual channel, click on the corresponding channel in the main dropdown
menu or on the adjacent ‘Details’ hypertext link. (You may also enable a ‘double-click’ behavior
in the ‘Control Preferences’ settings which will allow you to double-click on a channel on the
Net Control page to bring up settings for that channel.) If names have been applied to any
channels, they will show up on this page.
Note: Due to ongoing upgrades and enhancements to the ACU-5000, the unit’s web pages may
not be exactly the same as those shown in this manual. Check Section 10 for related information.
5.1.1
Channel Types and Limitations
An ACU-5000 channel can be configured to the following channel types:
o
Radio – A comprehensive suite of DSP-based interface algorithms allows competent
cross-connection of radio systems with solutions for the problems that these connections
can create. The radio channel type also applies to other four-wire devices, as well as iDEN
phones and some types of cellular phones.
o
SIP – For VoIP Phones and Soft Phones using standard SIP protocol.
o
PSTN – For connection to a standard telephone network
o
RoIP – For interface of JPS-proprietary Radio over IP devices such as the NXU-2A,
ACU-M, or DSP-2 and DSP-3 modules.
o
Disabled – This channel type is for clarity only, so the user quickly sees that there is no
communications device currently associated with the channel
The handset is always channel 0 and the PSTN channel type can be used only with channels 1
though 3 due to the hardware present; other that this, any channel can be set to any type.
