SECTION 3 - PRE START-UP CHECkLIST

This verifies that the Supply Fan Proving switch is
closing. If it does not close within 120 seconds of fan
operation the fan operation faults and shuts down the
unit. Correct the airflow issue and retry test.
If a VFD is not used (Constant Volume) the controller
outputs to the supply fan relay to start the motor.
Record the supply fan motor amperage in the Post
Start-Up Data section.
Prompt Message #1
SPEED CORRECT? When the supply fan is running
the supply fan VFD should indicate approximately 42
Hz. Press the check key if the speed is correct.
Prompt Message #2
ROTATION CORRECT? – As the supply fan coasts
down, you can open the door and verify proper rota-
tion. Press the check key if the rotation is correct. If
not, identify why the rotation is wrong and correct.
If both messages are accepted, PASS is indicated at
the display. Use the down arrow key to move to the
next test.
Push the check key to verify that the speed and rota-
tion are correct. Push the down arrow to move to the
next test.
WATER FLOW SWITCH TEST
This test verifies the operation of the Water Flow
Switch. Check that the loop water is flowing and all
external valves are open. Once the test is initiated the
testing process is below:
• Set the CONDENSER WATER VALVE to 0%
(Closed)
• Monitor the Water Flow Switch input for No Sig-
nal (No Water Flow)
• Wait 90 Seconds
• If the signal is still present, FAIL the test.
• Set the CONDENSER WATER VALVE to 100%
(Open)
• Monitor the Water Flow Switch input for Signal
(Water Flow)
• If the signal does not return in 90 Seconds, FAIL
the test.
• If signal does return in 90 Seconds, PASS the test.
Push the check key to verify the test is complete. Push
the down arrow to move to the next test.
COMPRESSOR RUN TEST
Compressor A on units 60 tons and less is a modulating
scroll compressor. On units above 60 tons compres-
sor A is a standard fixed speed compressor. The test
automatically adjusts for the type of compressor that
is used.
Gauges should be connected to each compressor cir-
cuit during each compressor test to verify rotation and
operation. You can also record amperage readings on
all compressors at this time.
COMPRESSOR SYSTEM TEST
During this test sequence, the supply fan
blower operates at 50 Hz. Make sure this
speed does not result in a static pressure
which could damage the building supply
duct system.
To initiate the test, press the check key (√). Press the
check key (√) again when ARE YOU SURE displays.
The controller performs the following sequence:
1. Turn the SUPPLY FAN to ON.
2. Set the SUPPLY FAN VFD to 60%.
3. Set the CONDENSER WATER VALVE to 100%.
4. Set the WATER ECONOMIZER VALVE to 0%.
5. Display the message “STARTING UP
” to the
right of the progress spinner.
6. Wait 60 seconds.
7. Turn COMPRESSOR A ON.
8. Set COMPRESSOR A LOAD to 1/3 capacity.
9. Display the message “COMPRESSOR A
” to the
right of the progress spinner.
10. Wait 5 seconds.
11. Turn COMPRESSOR A OFF.
12. Display the message “ROTATION CORRECT
FOR A?
”
To verify proper rotation, attach a gauge
set to the compressor system prior to conducting
the test. If the rotation is correct, the discharge
pressure should increase rapidly. If the discharge
and suction pressures remain the same, the rota-
tion is not correct. Press the check key (√) if the
compressor rotation is correct.
