GENERAL INFORMATION
TLS Tunable Laser Source Overview
The TLS is a Tunable Laser Source that offers an ultra-wide continuous
wavelength range of 1260 to 1630 nm, all in one bench-top chassis.

The TLS enables customers to span the entire CWDM spectral range at a
relatively low cost, enabling affordable testing of CWDM as well as broadband
optical components. To accomplish such wide wavelength coverage, the TLS
uses several optical amplifiers and an external cavity. The output wavelength of
each amplifier is aligned within the cavity to achieve seamless and continuous
wavelength coverage at the unit’s output.
The output spectrum features low coherence length, an accuracy of 0.2nm,
stability of 0.1nm, and high repeatability of better than 0.1nm. The source also
offers a very good side mode suppression ratio of over 60dB. The tuning speed
of the TLS is over 100nm/s allowing users to access their desired wavelength
quickly and efficiently.
The TLS offers a user friendly LED display that can be controlled manually with
the use of the front panel buttons, but also offers the possibility of remote
control through GPIB and RS232.
