Deployment Types and Cabling
This chapter will show detailed deployment types and cabling for the
JetStor FX
series. You
can start to build up a deployment plan for your Fibre channel or iSCSI storage environment
by deploying your
JetStor FX
systems to your desired host. For expansion you can also
attach the
JX JBOD
series RAID expansion enclosures.
4.1.
Deployment Types
JetStor FX
series supports following deployment types:
Table 4-1
Deployment Types
Deployment Type
Description
Multiple Path
(for dual controller models)
In a multiple path deployment, two or more paths are
connected from the data host to the
JetStor FX
system. In
a multiple path deployment, both controllers in the system
are used. A multi-path deployment will provide two or
more paths to the SAN. A dual controller system supports
real-time fail over, so the data and the paths to access it
will be protected. In multi-path deployment mode, disk
drives must support dual paths I/O (SAS interface).
Single Path
(for dual or single controller
models)
In a single path deployment, only one path is connected
from the data host to the
JetStor FX
system. In a single
path deployment, only one controller in the enclosure is
used.
Multi-server Attached
In multi-server attached deployment, more than one
server is connected to the
JetStor FX
system. In multi-
server attached deployment, both single and dual path
deployment modes are supported.
