Turn All userguide 3C EN 2021.05.21 Rev.4
Pressure injuries are localised areas of skin and/
or underlying tissue that have been damaged by
constant exposure to direct pressure or pressure
in combination with shear and/or friction
In the case of immobility and risk of skin
damage, pressure injuries can occur within 10
to 15 minutes, which is why rapid preventative
measures are important. Most pressure injuries
can be prevented!
Pressure injuries can occur anywhere on the
body, but particularly vulnerable are those
places where bony prominences increase
pressure against underlying tissue. It is therefore
important to focus on relieving these vulnerable
areas in order to prevent the development of
pressure injuries.
Older people and bedridden patients are at
particular risk of developing pressure injuries.
Paralysis, poor nutrition and diseases such as
Diabetes and Atherosclerosis also increase the
risk of pressure injuries. At high risk are those
who are unable to move themselves or call for
assistance to be repositioned.
It is therefore important, for the prevention of
pressure injuries, that relatives or staff frequently
turn and reposition seated and supine patients.
At the same time, it is important to avoid friction
on the surface of the patient’s skin that could
potentially lead to a shear injury.
The requirement for lateral turning and the
frequency recommended will vary according
to the needs of each individual but, when this
form of pressure care is indicated, the frequency
is normally a 1.5 to 2.0 hour interval for each
change of direction.
The automated operation of the Turn All System
significantly reduces the pressure and work load
on both ‘in home’ carers and staff in acute and
aged care facilities.
Benefits of the Turn All
®
system
• Comprehensive pressure relief
• Assists in protecting ‘at risk’ immobile patients
from developing pressure areas
• An effective aid in the treatment of patients
with pre-existing pressure injuries
• Comfortable and the turning action doesn’t
interrupt normal sleep pattern
• Almost silent operation
•
Significantly reduces the risk of manual
handling injuries, for health care staff,
especially when caring for patients of
significant size
• Always able to easily interact with the patient
as they are gently and gradually turned from
the supine position to a maximum of 30°, on
their side and then back again.
• Gentle and comfortable repositioning, even for
palliative care patients experiencing pain
• Slight lifting of the mattress, on the opposite
side to the one being laterally turned, provides
support and reassurance as well as decreasing
the risk of shear - see illustrations on page 5
•
Significantly reduces workload on individual
carers, freeing up time for other clinical tasks
• Improved microclimate and blood circulation
• Robust, durable and reliable
• Designed to function on a wide range of
standard care beds fitted with a removable
mattress
