Tool runs at normal speed
without load, but loses power
under load
• Inadequate lubrication
• Check for excess clutch oil (clutch
cases only need to be half full)
Tool does not run or runs
slowly.
Air flows only slightly from
exhaust

Insufficient air pressure
• Contaminants blocking the
airflow or operation of motor
parts
•
Check the air supply for sufficient
pressure
• Check the air inlet for blockage
• Pour air tool lubricating oil into air
inlet
• Operate tool in short bursts quickly
reversing rotation back and forth
where applicable
Tool will not run.
Air flows freely from exhaust
• One or more motor vanes
stuck
• Motor rusted
• Pour air tool lubricating tool into air
inlet
• Operate tool in short bursts of
forward and/or reverse rotation
where applicable
• Tap motor housing gently with plastic
mallet
Sockets will not stay on
• Worn socket retainer ring
• Change the retainer ring
