• After each hydromassage, or at least daily, it is a good idea to
carry out a chemical control of the pH and the amount of chlo-
rine in the water, as is done with swimming pools.
NOTE:
The MaxiJacuzzi
®
is standard equipped with an ozone
generator, which automatically intervenes during the fil-
tering cycle. Ozone is added from the bottom, where
it is mixed with water, and aids in the disinfection and
purification of the water. Use of the ozone generator
normally reduces the need for chemical water treat-
ment additives and therefore also reduces costs.
Chlorine treatment of the water is preferable when the
MaxiJacuzzi is used intensively. As an alternative,
bromine or active oxygen can be used.
OTHER TREATMENTS CONCERNING WATER MAINTE-
NANCE
Anti-algae treatment
To be carried out at the beginning of each season (and periodi-
cally) using a specific product; it is advisable to contact a serv-
ice centre or a specialized dealer for the relative amounts and
methods of use.
Flocculation treatment
This treatment is necessary to eliminate any microscopic parti-
cles that could make the water cloudy.
However, this is a treat-
ment that is not recommended for MaxiJacuzzis, as the sub-
stances used could be deposited on the filtering cartridge jeop-
ardizing operation.
Formation of foam:
anti-foam products are available to reduce
the formation of foam in the water, normally caused by the pres-
ence of soap, suntan oils and other greasy substances. The inter-
action of these substances with hot water, in particular with a high
pH level (high alkaline content), causes the formation of foam.
Oil film or cloudy water:
these situations are often due to in-
sufficient water filtering, but are also caused by sunscreen oils,
lotions and cosmetics. It is possible to add flocculants to cause
the contaminants to coagulate into globules that are sufficient-
ly large to be handled by the filtering system. These globules may
however completely clog the filters.
The addition of flocculants therefore makes the water clearer but
the clogged filters must be cleaned following the instructions giv-
en in the
"Skimmer-filter maintenance"
chapter.
DRAINING THE TUB
WINTER INACTIVITY
Periodically, the spa must be drained in order to ensure that
water is changed and to clean the tub. This operation depends
on frequency of use of the spa, number of users, water quali-
ty, type of contaminants in the water, etc. If the spa is used on-
ly by the family, good water quality may be maintained for sev-
eral weeks, whereas more intensive use may make it necessary
to change the water several times a week.
CAUTION
Before emptying, make sure that the chemical
additive values in the water are within the per-
mitted limits.
If in doubt, contact the local authorities.
DO NOT E M PTY TH E WATE R I NTO A S E PTIC
TANK.
In areas where winter temperatures frequently drop be-
low 0°C, during periods in which the MaxiJacuzzi
®
is not
used, proceed as follows:
• Disconnect the electricity from the main control panel.
• Empty the MaxiJacuzzi
®
completely by using the drain valve
(detail
C
of
2
), and leave it open. The emptying of the Max-
iJacuzzi
®
is not complete; stagnant water on the seats and bot-
tom of the tub can be eliminated with a sponge, while water
left in the hoses can be sucked out through the hydromassage
and suction intakes, using a liquid-suction pump.
It is advisable to run the blower briefly to eliminate any water
remaining in the circuit and also to empty the pumps using the
drain plugs.
IMPORTANT
In cold climates, where temperatures drop well
below 0°C, all residual water should be eliminat-
ed from the circuit.
• Remove and clean the filter cartridges and store in a dry place.
• Cover the MaxiJacuzzi
®
to keep it clean.
• Before using the MaxiJacuzzi
®
again, refer to the chapter
"In-
structions for use - part two
".
Winter inactivity in warm climates
• In areas where temperatures only occasionally drop below 0 °C,
the spa can be left in operation, since it is equipped with an an-
ti-freeze protection that ensures that a minimum water temper-
ature is maintained
(see the chapter “Setting water temperature”,
which contains paragraphs on maintaining the minimum water
temperature and preventing freezing of water in the pipes -
“Smart Winter” mode).
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
• Keep the MaxiJacuzzi
®
covered at all times when not in use. In
this way, along with keeping the water from getting dirty, you will
also avoid heat loss and evaporation.
