INTRODUCTION
1.1
Purpose
This document is the Hardware User Guide for the Snapdragon 820 SMARC SOM based on the Qualcomm APQ8096
Application processor. This board is fully supported by iWave Systems Technologies Pvt. Ltd. This Guide provides
detailed information on the overall design and usage of the Snapdragon 820 SMARC SOM from a Hardware Systems
perspective.
1.2
Snapdrgon 820 SMARC SOM Overview
The SMARC is a versatile small form factor computer Module definition targeting application that require low power,
low costs, and high performance. The Module power envelope is typically under 6W although designs up to about
15W are possible.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC based SMARC System on Module is rich with features and comes in compact 82mm x
50mm form factor. The Module PCBs have 314 edge fingers that mate with a low profile 314 pin 0.5mm pitch right
angle connector. The SMARC Specification describes the functionality of all 314pins. The modular approach allows
scalability, fast time to market and upgradability while still maintaining low costs, low power and small physical size.
