Your paraglider is certified for a specific weight range. If you fly out-
side the stipulated numbers, you are then flying outside of the opera-
ting limits of your paraglider. Consequently, the paraglider no longer
conforms to the flight characteristics determined at the time of its certi-
fication and hence no longer certified. Choosing your location within the
weight range is a matter of personal choice.
You can fly at the top, middle or bottom of the stipulated weigh range.
We recommend the mid-range.
Being at the low end of the scale has advantages such as high dam-
ping, less dynamic feel, and a better climb rate. The disadvantages are
a lower speed, less agile, and reduced internal wing pressurization.
On the other end, a heavily loaded wing will fly faster, have a more taut
canopy, which will increase the dynamic character of the wing.
Warning ! Beyond a flight weight of 85kg (and this, despite an
EN-C certification up to 95kg), fall rates greater than -30m/sec
are reached in a spiral with a significant centrifugal force (> 5g).
Beyond this load of 85kg, the Awak 3 in size 17 is exclusively
reserved for an expert public who absolutely master the exits
of committed spirals and who are familiar with strong accelera-
tions.
