For these 3 maneuvers, we strongly recommend, as for all the other
phases of the flight, to keep the controls in hand, placed in a «wrist
strap» this allows you to instantly return to a conventional regain of
control. These emergency maneuvers should only be used when neces-
sary. Over time, they weaken the lines, ribs and sail / line anchor points.
The user’s attention is drawn to the risk posed by the practice of
360 ° engaged with «big ears». This practice can considerably increase
the load on the front lines in the center of the wing and prematurely
weaken the resistance :
therefore only to be used in case of ex-
treme necessity and then have the resistances checked in our
workshop.
360° :
In a 360° spiral, a sink rate of more than 10 m/s / 30 ft/s is
attained. This manoeuvre can disorientate the pilot (loss of reference
point and strong acceleration).
One should learn this technique progressively. In particular one should
avoid the symmetrical mid braking position for coming out of the spiral.
This is best obtained by raising both hands progressively.
The «B»-line stall :
Do not pull more than 25 cm (risk of dropping out).
The wrong amount of tractive effort on the B’s is likely, due to the high
aspect ratio of the wing, to degenerate into shrimp forward. We will
avoid a sudden release.
