8. Looking after the meter
To clean the meter, wipe it over with a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Never use scouring cleansers or solvents.
As far as possible, no settings should be made on the meter and no servicing or repair work should be done on it while it is
opened up and switched on. If however there is no alternative, the work should be done by an experienced person who is fully
aware of the risks involved.
If ever there is any danger that the meter is no longer safe to use, no more measurements should be made with it and it
should be safeguarded against the possibility of inadvertent use.
It can be assumed that the safety of the meter has been jeopardized if
– it has suffered visible damage
– the functions called up are not performed properly
– it has been exposed to adverse conditions for any length of time
– it has been subjected to severe stresses or strains while being moved about or transported.
