VoIP - Voice over Internet Protocol. This is a relatively new telephone technology where
voice and control signals are transmitted over an IP, or Internet Protocol, packet-switched
network. This makes more efficient use of network resources and allows more sophisti-
cated features than traditional telephone technology, where audio is transmitted over a
circuit-switched network.
