Seven Speed Hub Chain Installation
Adjusting Seven Speed Hub Chain
WARNING
Idler MUST be adjusted to ensure proper chain tension. If proper tension is not
present, chain may disengage from the chainring. If the chain is noisy when at
proper tension, loosen slightly. After chain is assembled, start in first gear and on
straightaway.
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 8.7.
NOTE: This procedure applies to the Top End XLT and Top End XLT Jr. only.
1. Ensure the hand crank is adjusted to the proper height. Refer to Adjusting Hand
Crank on page 35.
NOTE: Repositioning of the hand crank assembly loosens or tightens the chain in an up/down
position.
2. Loosen the hex screw securing the adjustable chain idler.
3. Adjust the tautness of the chain by moving the adjustable chain idler in or out as
shown in FIGURE 8.7.
4. Tighten the hex screw to secure the adjustable chain idler in place.
