To perform a directory search:
1.
Dial .
2.
Press
to select the intercom directory, press
to select the outside num-
ber directory, or press
to select the feature code directory.
3.
Enter letters or numbers (up to 10 characters) as described below:
•
Remain in alphanumeric mode:
Press the keypad keys to enter the desired
characters. (See the chart below.) The number of times a key is pressed
determines which character is entered. For example, 77776444844 would
enter SMITH. You need a
FORWARD
key to enter adjoining characters that
are located under the same key or to leave spaces. For adjoining characters,
press the
FORWARD
key once to advance to the next character. For exam-
ple, 5666
FWD
66337777 would enter JONES. (Note: The letters correspond
to the letters printed on keypad keys 1-9.) Press
BACKSPACE
to back-
space.
NOTE:
To use the Backspace key, you must preprogram the feature key (fea-
ture code 314) on your phone to use the Backspace key. Refer to
,
Programming Your Feature Keys
section for details on how to program the
backspace key. To use the FORWARD, PREVIOUS, NEXT, or MSG key, your
system administrator must program those keys in the Database programming.

Change to numeric mode:
Press the
MSG
key (if you have one) and then
press the keypad keys to enter an extension number.

to view the selected name. The display will time out if the number is
not dialed.
To dial a number or feature code while it is displayed:
