This section explains how to install your Storage Expander and connect it to internal and  external disk drives.

Disk Drives

 

Your Storage Expander supports SAS and SATA disk drives, Solid State Drives (SSDs), and  SAS tape drives.

Cables

 

Depending on your application requirements, you can use any of the cables listed below.

Internal  mini-SAS HD  to  mini-SAS HD  (SFF-
8643 to SFF-8643) – Connects to an internal 
backplane  or  enclosure.  Also  connects  the 
Storage expander to a SAS host controller.

 

The Intel® Storage Expander RES3TV360 kit 
includes the cables to connect the expander 
to the backplane.
