802.1x
802.1x makes use of the physical access characteristics of IEEE 802 LAN infrastructures in order
to provide a means of authenticating and authorizing devices attached to a LAN port that has point-
to-point connection characteristics, and to prevent access to that port in case the authentication and
authorization process fails. Before configuring 802.1x feature, it has to be enabled at the Switch
Settings web page, shown below.
802.1x Configuration
802.1x parameters such as Radius Server IP, Server Port, Shared Key and NAS Identifier can be
configured with this page.
To configure 802.1x, the following authentication server information has to be provided:
•
Radius Server IP: IP address of the authentication server.
•
Server Port: The UDP port number used by the authentication server for authentication
purposes.
•
Accounting Port: The UDP port number used by the authentication server to retrieve accounting
information.
•
Shared Key: A key shared between this switch and authentication server.
•
NAS Identifier: A string used to identify this switch.
