Issue 4
Note
The FS-24 does not support the configuration of a "context" name along with the Views. If the SNMP
Manager provides a context name field, it should be left blank.
2. When SNMPv3 is enabled, the FS-24 creates a default group named
initial
. At the Group
tab, create user groups by configuring the following parameters:
•
Group Name: A text string of up to 16 characters is used to define Group Name.
•
ReadView Name: Readonly access privileges to a previously defined view
•
WriteView Name: Read/write access privileges for a previously defined view
•
NotifyView Name: View for generating notification traps for a previously defined view
•
Auth. Type: Authorization Type: noAuthNoPriv, AuthNoPriv, AuthPriv.
Note
The same group can be configured with different combination of views and access privileges. This would
allow users belonging to the same group to have different access privileges
3. At the Users tab, create usernames and associate the user with a previously defined group by
configuring the following parameters. To remove an existing user, select the user from the list
of "Current Users" on the same screen and click on "Remove" button.
•
User Name: Name of the new user. A text string of up to 16 characters
•
Group Name: Name of the group the user will be associated with.
(Provide a previously defined group name.)
•
Auth. Password: Authentication Password. A string of maximum of 16 characters
•
Priv. Password: Privacy Password. A string of maximum 16 characters
When SNMPv3 is enabled, the switch automatically creates the following users attached to the
initial group. These default users may be deleted if not required:
•
PrivateUser: authPriv privilege
•
AuthOnlyUser: authNoPriv privilege
•
PublicUser: noAuthNoPriv privilege
