system. This manual contains everything you need to know about your
new glucometer and how it works. Please take a moment to read the
instructions carefully.
The unique feature of this system is its voice function, which acts as an
acoustic aid for users. The voice function is optional and can be turned
off in the setup of the meter. Although the Element
TM
Plus Glucose Meter
has a voice option it has not been validated for use by the visually
impaired.

Intended use
The Element
TM
Plus Blood Glucose Monitoring System is for the quantita-
tive measurement of glucose in capillary whole blood taken from the
fingertip, ventral palm, dorsal hand, upper arm, forearm, calf and/or thigh.
Element
TM
Plus Blood Glucose Testing System is for in vitro diagnostic
use and is not to be used for the diagnosis of or screening for diabetes or
for neonatal use. Element
TM
Plus Blood Glucose Monitoring System is
intended to be used by a single patient and should not be shared. The
Element
TM
Plus Blood Glucose Monitoring System is intended for self
testing outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use) by people with diabetes
at home as an aid in the management of diabetes. Alternative site Testing
(ventral palm, dorsal hand, upper arm, forearm, calf and/or thigh) should
be done during steady- state times when glucose is not changing rapidly.

Important information
The Element
TM
Plus system provides a quick and easy way for patients
with diabetes to measure their blood sugar levels.
It should only be used with fresh capillary whole blood samples. It is
designed for in-vitro diagnostics use only and should not be used for any
purpose other than monitoring blood sugar levels. It should not be used
for the diagnosis of diabetes or for the testing of newborns (neonates).
The Element
TM
Plus Test Strips are for use with the Element™ Plus Blood
Glucose Meter to quantitatively measure glucose (sugar) in fresh
capillary whole blood samples drawn from the fingertip, ventral palm,
dorsal hand, upper arm, forearm, calf and/or thigh.
This meter contains some speaking functions but has not been validated
for use by the visually impaired.
