Using some long needle nose pliers, gently pull the
sensor upward while guiding the cable through
the opening in the metal casting. Be careful not
to damage the tips of the forked sensor as this is
where the optics are located.

Pull the cable far enough through to remove the
string or wire from the cable, making sure you can
use the string or wire to attach to the replacement
sensor and pull it back through. The string or wire
will also help keep the sensor standoff in position
for the replacement sensor.
To install the main shaft encoder sensor
Installation of the main shaft encoder sensor is based on the rear bulkhead and center bearing block
being loose as explained in the Removal section for the sensor.

Tie the cable guide wire (see the Removal section)
to the end of the encoder sensor cable.
