Sion Operating Manual
6
Apply oil to the cutting edge of the punch, then slide the punch and thrust
bearing over the bolt.
7
Apply oil to the exposed bolt threads and then turn the nut onto the bolt.
CAUTION
Do not operate the hole punch dry. Make sure to lubricate
the cutting edge of the punch and the bolt threads.
8
Align the flat side of the punch relative to the tool panel cover as needed to
provide the desired Converter orientation. (The Converter input connector is
keyed with a flat blade.)
9
Hold the bolt and die body stationary with a 5/8 in. wrench while turning the nut
clockwise using a 9/16 in. wrench. Continue turning the nut while keeping the
bolt stationary until the punch is completely through the tool panel cover.
10
Disassemble the hole punch to remove it from the tool panel cover.
11
Use Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any oil on the tool panel cover left by the hole
punch.
CAUTION
Make certain to remove any traces of oil on the tool panel
cover that could prevent a good RF ground to the
Converter or contaminate the clean room environment.
12
Verify that the tool panel cover is not anodized. If not certain whether or not the
panel is anodized, use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between two
points on the surface of the panel close to the D-shaped hole created by the
hole punch. If the resistance is one ohm or less, then the tool panel cover is not
anodized. If resistance is high or infinite, the anodization in the vicinity of the
hole will need to be removed by sanding or scraping. Make sure to remove the
anodization next to the hole on both the inside and outside of the tool panel
cover. Verify using the ohmmeter that the anodization has been removed.
CAUTION
Anodized panels are not electrically conductive and will
not provide a good RF ground for the Converter.
13
Remove the connector nut and grounding washer from the Converter input
connector. (See
.)
