Install both vertical shaft roller bearings [7

9 in/lbs rolling torque (new), 2

3 in/lbs rolling torque (used).

Temporarily install the pinion gear [7

21], and pinion flange nut [7

Check the pinion gear height (optimum .025) (see 

Lower Pinion Height Measurement

Adjust lower cup shims [7

Repeat the same procedure on the rear vertical shaft (short) [7

Install the prop gear bearing shims [7

Rotate the vertical shaft at least 3 turns and check the front prop gear backlash
