Scans with default illumination  setting.  This setting is recommended for flat 
documents and objects without a surface structure. 

Top:

 

The resulting image shows the object as illuminated from the top side. 

Bottom:

 

The resulting image shows the object as illuminated from the bottom side. 

3D Light:

  The resulting image shows the surface of the scanned object with a 3D effect. 

This improves the results while scanning objects with a relief-like surface. For 
example coins or objects with imprinting.
