Changing the temperature unit of
measurement from °C to °F
To toggle the unit of measurement for temperature readings from
°C to °F and back again, proceed as follows:
• Switch off the unit at the main ON/OFF switch. (The residual
heat display should no longer be enabled, see residual heat
Warning (HOT)).
• Hold the ”Mode” and ”Temp” membrane buttons pressed
down and switch on the main ON/OFF switch. After approx. 5
seconds the display will begin to flash. Release the membrane
buttons.
• Temperatures will now be displayed in the unit of measurement
selected. Temperatures in the memory will be converted accor-
dingly.

Setting the safety temperature
Setting and/or changing the safety temperature is only possible in
the „
A
“or
B
-mode of operation.
The safety circuit is set as follows:
Switch instrument on with mains switch on the left side of the
instrument.
As soon as the display shifts to SAFE H (safety temperature limi-
ter of the heatin plate) (SV is blinking), press the foil key
“Mode”(SV is blinking no longer), keep this foil key depressed and
set the requested safety temperature with the TEMP rotary knob.
The set safety temperature (e.g. 100 °C) is displayed. After relea-
sing the foil key “Mode”, SAFE H OK is displayed for about 2
seconds, and the safety temperature is stored this way.
When the display changes to show SAFE P (safety temperature
limit for external sensors) (SV flashes), press the ”Mode” membra-
ne button. The SV will stop flashing. Hold down the ”Mode” mem-
brane button down and turn the TEMP knob to set the safety limit
temperature required. The safety temperature (e.g. 60 °C) will be
displayed. Release the ”Mode” membrane button. After approx. 2
seconds, the message SAFE OK will be displayed to indicate that
the safety temperature has now been stored in the memory.
The motor speed is set on the rotary knob “Mot”, (0 and/or 50 to
1500 1/min in steps of 10 1/min each). “SV” is blinking.
The function “stirring” is started and stopped with foil key “Mot”.
If the function stirring is started, the motor runs smoothly to the
set speed, and the LED “Mot” beside the imprint “Mot 1/min”
shines green.
The display changes to real speed display.
12.1
Intermittent mode
If Intermit mode is active, "On IntErmit" will be displayed when the
device is switched on.
The intermittent mode interrupts the stirring cycle at regular inter-
vals. For example, if the stirring function is switched on with the
setpoint speed set at 1 rpm the stirring cycle will be interrupted
for approx. 10 seconds after a cycle time of 60 seconds. The cycle
time and the length of the interruption can be modified via the seri-
al interface (see section 14.1).
The stirring bar breakaway monitoring function cannot be
enabled when the intermittent mode is enabled.
The intermittent mode can also be used with the special small stir-
ring bars. These can be used when the stirring bar breakaway
monitoring function is not enabled and will continue to stir the
medium even when the stirring bar breaks away. These stirring
bars are picked up once again when the speed drops cyclically.
