■ Adjusting cutting sharpness with wrapping (polishing the blades)
!
To perform wrapping, prepare newspaper torn in 50mm
strips, and either wrapping compound or a polishing agent
of wrapping carbon mixed with oil or a neutral detergent.
!
The volume ratio of the polishing agent mixture is
1 unit of wrapping compound : 3 to 4 units of oil (neutral
detergent).
1. Tilt the mower back on a level surface, until the stand is
on the ground so that the mower will not move.
2. Set the wrapping machine on a level surface, and make
sure the rotating axle of the wrapping machine is at an ap-
propriate height.
3. Set the stand for the wrapping machine, hold the stopper,
and adjust the height of the V―shaped area with the axle
of the wrapping machine that you adjusted in the previous
section.
!
Set the stand at two locations on the left and right sides of
the front roller.
4. Lean the mower backwards to set the front roller onto the
V―shaped area of the stand, and securely connect the axle
of the wrapping machine with the center of the cutting
blade axle.
Warning
!
Be sure to stop the engine, and disengage the
main clutch, blade clutch, and work roller clutch
before performing wrapping.
!
When turning the blades with the wrapping ma-
chine, be careful to avoid getting your hands,
feet, or clothing within the turning radius of the
blades.
!
Be sure to use a brush to apply the polishing
agent to the blades. Do not use your fingers.
Important
!
When performing wrapping, use a polishing
agent specified by Shibaura, wrapping com-
pound #180 ― #220, or a wrapping carbon of
the same number.
!
Do not apply polishing agent to areas of the
blades where the cutting sharpness is not
good.
Important
!
The blades (rotating blades) can be used up to
a radius of 5mm, and up to an outer diameter of
113mm (123mm when shipped from the fac-
tory).
