DVI Ranger 500

About the DVI Ranger

The DVI Ranger brings the benefits of digital transmission to extended range
video applications. With the DVI Ranger, any DVI-capable source of video
information can be connected to a DVI display up to 100 metres away. (In
special circumstances, this can even be extended to 500 metres.)

The DVI Ranger is composed of two individual units, the TX unit) and the
RX unit. Video signals in DVI format are transmitted from the TX unit to the
RX unit over four strands of multimode fiber cable.  Information regarding
the capabilities of the display (such as its native resolution and refresh rate)
are conveyed from the RX unit to the TX unit over a Category 5 UTP cable
in EDID/DDC format.

The TX unit

The TX unit connects to the video source (usually a computer) using a
conventional DVI cable. Depending on your needs, it also connects to a
power outlet through an AC power adapter.
