Connecting PC to the I-8xx7’s COM1
There is one RS-232 communications cable (CA-0915) included in the I-8xx7 shipping box. The
cable is used to connect a PC to a PAC or an I-7520R (ICP DAS RS-232/RS-485 converter).
The default setting for the COM1 of the I-8xx7 is “19200, 8, N, 1”, that is 19200 baud rate, 8 data
bits, no stop bits, and one parity bit. The following figure shows commonly used RS-232 pin
assignments.
When ISaGRAF doing RS-232 communications, only the RxD, TxD, and GND data signals are used.
If the CTS and DSR signals are required for the software or the hardware that is running on the
PC, wiring the RTS-CTS and DTR-DSR signals together as shown below.
