Because the XIV system acts as a TCP server for iSCSI connections, packets are
always routed through the Ethernet port from which the iSCSI connection was
initiated. The default gateways are required only if the hosts are not on the
same layer-2 subnet as the XIV system.

If present, Ethernet VLANs and IP routers must be configured to enable
connectivity between the host systems and the XIV system.

If present, IP routers must be configured to enable access between the hosts
and the XIV system.
Important:
Link aggregation is not supported. Ports cannot be bonded.

Redundant configuration
In this configuration, each interface module is connected through two ports to two
different Gigabit Ethernet switches, and each host system is connected to the two
Gigabit Ethernet switches. Full connectivity is maintained in the event of a
component failure.
This configuration is the same as the redundant configuration options for Fibre
Channel networks.
For the best performance, use a dedicated iSCSI network infrastructure.
Single-switch configuration
In this configuration, a single Gigabit Ethernet switch interconnects all host
systems and interface modules.
Use non-redundant configurations only when the risks of a single point of failure
are acceptable, which is typically the case for test and development environments.
Single-port host configuration
In this configuration, a single Gigabit Ethernet switch connects to each host system
and to two interface modules.
Use non-redundant configurations only when the risks of a single point of failure
are acceptable, which is typically the case for test and development environments.
Network cable requirements
The customer is responsible for supplying cables that connect to the patch panel,
including host attachment (Fibre Channel or iSCSI) cables, management cables,
maintenance cables, and virtual private network (VPN) cables.
