Use
the
baseboard
management
controller
utility
programs
to
configure
the
baseboard
management
controller,
download
firmware
updates
and
SDR/FRU
updates,
and
remotely
manage
a
network.
Note:
If
the
server
does
not
start
from
the
CD-RW/DVD
drive
or
the
external
USB
diskette
drive,
use
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program
to
configure
the
CD-RW/DVD
drive
or
the
external
USB
diskette
drive
as
a
startup
device.

on
page
58.)
Using
the
baseboard
management
controller
setup
utility
program
Use
the
baseboard
management
controller
setup
utility
program
to
view
or
change
baseboard
management
controller
information,
user
management,
LAN
configuration,
and
LAN
alert
settings.
To
download
the
program,
go
to
http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/xseries/index.html,
select
System
x3455
from
the
Hardware
list,
and
click
Go
.
Click
the
Download
tab,
and
search
for
BMC
software;
then,
copy
the
files
bmc.exe
and
Init.ini
to
a
setup
utility
CD
or
diskette.
To
start
the
baseboard
management
controller
setup
utility
program,
complete
the
following
steps.
1.
Turn
on
the
server.
2.
If
you
are
using
a
CD,
insert
the
setup
utility
CD
into
the
CD-RW/DVD
drive.
If
you
are
using
a
diskette,
insert
the
setup
utility
diskette
into
the
external
USB
diskette
drive.
3.
From
a
command
line,
type
bmc
and
press
Enter.
For
the
program
to
interface
with
the
baseboard
management
controller,
the
parameters
in
the
Intf.ini
file
must
be
set
correctly.
To
modify
the
Intf.ini
file,
use
the
baseboard
management
controller
setup
utility
program
or
a
text
editor.
Using
the
baseboard
management
controller
configuration
utility
program
Use
the
baseboard
management
controller
configuration
utility
program
to
view
or
change
the
baseboard
management
controller
configuration
settings
and
to
save
the
configuration
to
a
file
for
use
on
multiple
servers.
To
download
the
program,
go
to
http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/
xseries/index.html,
select
System
x3455
from
the
Hardware
list,
and
click
Go
.
Click
the
Download
tab,
and
search
for
BMC
software;
then
copy
the
file
bmc_cfg.exe
to
a
configuration
utility
CD
or
