memory
controller

Chipkill
memory
protection

DIMMs

Chipkill
memory
protection
is
a
technology
that
protects
the
system
from
a
single
chip
failure
on
a
DIMM.
Note:
Chipkill
memory
protection
is
not
supported
on
512
MB
DIMMs.

server
supports
online-spare
memory.

server
does
not
support
memory
mirroring.

When
you
restart
the
server
after
you
add
or
remove
DIMMs,
the
server
displays
a
message
indicating
that
the
memory
configuration
has
changed.

The
amount
of
usable
memory
will
be
reduced,
depending
on
the
system
configuration.
A
certain
amount
of
memory
must
be
reserved
for
system
resources.
To
view
the
total
amount
of
installed
memory
and
the
amount
of
configured
memory,
run
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program
and
select
System
Summary
from
the
menu.
