Direct (out-of-band) management method
This method uses Ethernet connections from a management station to each
controller. You must install at least one management station. The management
station can be the host or a workstation on the Ethernet network. A management
station will have the client software installed. Attach Ethernet cables to each
management station (one pair per storage server). You will connect the cables to
each storage server controller later when you install the storage server. Figure 24
on page 36 shows the direct (out-of-band) management method.
Note: Do not connect the DS4100 storage server Ethernet ports to a public
network or public subnet. It is strongly recommended that you create a
private network between the DS4100 storage server and the management
station.
