Remove the adapter and insert it into a static-protective package.
You might have to remove the system board and the fan in order to slide the
adapter out of the slot. Refer to “Removing and Replacing the Fan” on
page 40 and “Removing and Replacing the System Board” on page 33.

If you are not installing another adapter in this slot, install an expansion-slot
cover and screw.

If you removed the bottom cover, the fan, or the system board, replace them.

Go to the device-record form in Using Your Personal Computer and delete the
name of the adapter you removed.
Note:
Removing an adapter frees up system resources. If you remove an ISA
legacy adapter, you must use the Configuration/Setup Utility program to set
the previously used resources to [Available]. For more information, see
Chapter 7, “Completing the Installation” on page 74.
