Assign IP address to Interface option. For example, use the subnet of the EMS management or
canister interface.
Use the
c
key to change the IP address. A new panel will open which will allow the SSR to change
the IP address. Press the Ctrl + G keys to save the changes.
k. To run the SSR tool with the updated IP address, select the 8. Assign IP address to Interface
option, and then press the Enter key.
l. To test the ping connection with the EMS node, highlight the 9. Ping tests option. Use the c key to
change the IP address, a new panel will open. Set the IP address that was added during the EMS
setup phase and also defined on the customer worksheet. Press the Ctrl + G keys to save the
changes.
m. To ping the EMS node with the target IP address, select the 9. Ping tests option or highlight the
option and press the Enter key.
n. Click
Back
and then click
Exit
. You are out automatically.
Before moving on, ensure that there are no bad LED lights on this canister.
4. For Canister 2 (bottom)
a. Connect the laptop using the Ethernet to service port. See Figure 29 on page 54 for the service
port location (also called as technician port).
b. Define the IP on the laptop to 10.0.0.100 (except 10.0.0.101 and 10.0.0.102) with subnet
10.0.0.0/24, netmask 255.255.255.
c. Open a terminal window (not putty).
d. Ping 10.0.0.101. If successful, go to the next step. It may take up to five minutes for the server to
respond at initial start up process. If there are any issues, check Ethernet cable and switch, and
verify the laptop IP address. If the issue persists, see the “ESS 3000 issues” on page 61 topic.
e. Open putty and set target address as 10.0.0.101/24 (port 22 for SSH), accept any security
prompts. You get a login window.
f. Before you log in, increase the size of the putty window and the putty text.
g. SSH login by using the following credentials:
uid: essserv1
pw:<{Enclosure serial number}A>
• Add an ‘A’ at the end of the enclosure serial number for the top canister for password. For
example, if the enclosure serial number is
01YM312
, the password for the top canister will be
01YM312A
.
The

tool opens.
h. Select the SSR tools menu as shown in Figure 30 on page 55.
i. Run all steps in the SSR tools menu from option #2 through #7, as shown in the Figure 31 on page
55
If a step fails, review the output and take corrective action.
j. To set the IP address of the management port (see Ethernet 1 in Figure 16 on page 37) to the IP
address and subnet defined on the customer worksheet, in the
essutils
tool, select the 7.
