Chapter
5.
Diagnostics
This
chapter
describes
the
diagnostic
tools
that
are
available
to
help
you
solve
problems
that
might
occur
in
the
DPI
blade.
Note:
The
DPI
blade
uses
shared
resources
that
are
installed
in
the
BladeCenter
unit.
Problems
with
these
shared
resources
might
appear
to
be
in
the
DPI
blade
(see
for
information
about
isolating
problems
with
these
resources).
See
the
Problem
Determination
and
Service
Guide
or
the
Hardware
Maintenance
Manual
and
Troubleshooting
Guide
for
your
BladeCenter
unit
and
other
BladeCenter
component
documentation
for
diagnostic
procedures
for
shared
BladeCenter
components.
If
you
cannot
diagnose
and
correct
a
problem
by
using
the
information
in
this
chapter,
see
for
more
information.
Diagnostic
tools
The
following
tools
are
available
to
help
you
diagnose
and
solve
hardware-related
problems:
v
DPI
blade
diagnostic
program
The
DPI
blade
diagnostic
program
circulates
test
packets
to
various
processing
elements
and
returns
statistics
about
the
processing
of
the
packets.
v
Troubleshooting
tables
These
tables
list
problem
symptoms
and
actions
to
correct
the
problems.
See
for
more
information.
v
Diagnostic
programs,
messages,
and
error
codes
The
diagnostic
programs
are
the
primary
method
of
testing
the
major
components
of
the
DPI
blade.
These
programs
are
stored
in
Cloudshield
Packet
Operating
System
(CPOS),
in
the
host
blade
server.
DPI
blade
diagnostics
program
The
DPI
blade
diagnostics
program
is
an
essential
tool
for
identifying
and
isolating
hardware
problems.
The
DPI
blade
diagnostics
program
is
based
on
a
custom
RAVE
application
that
is
developed
by
CloudShield.
It
circulates
packets
at
maximum
rate
to
the
various
processing
elements
and
provides
an
output
screen
on
the
Web
Management
Interface
that
displays
the
statistics
of
a
number
of
packets
that
have
been
processed.
This
test
exercises
the
major
processing
elements
of
their
associated
memory
banks
and
the
data
paths.
If
there
are
errors,
you
can
view
them
from
the
Applications
page
in
the
Web
Management
Interface.
